Our offerings
We provide a diverse range of courses and experiences designed to cater to various learning styles and interests. From beginner language classes to immersive cultural workshops, there's something for everyone at Te Kōpura o Te Mātauranga.
Our approach is to focus on the speaking of the language, not just learning it, but actively engaging in language for everyday use. For our language to live, we must use it often.
Participants are invited to actively live their pepeha through engaging with all aspects of learning language and living your culture on daily basis..
Beginner Te Reo Māori classes

Te Kōpura o Te Mātauranga is dedicated to revitalising and promoting Te Reo Māori and tikanga Māori. Our passionate kaiako (teachers) are committed to providing high-quality, engaging education that fosters a deep appreciation for the unique heritage of Aotearoa New Zealand. This phrase 'te kōpura o te mātauranga' came through an explanation by Ngāti Porou elder, Jacob Te Hapuku Karaka. He likened language learning to the growing of kūmara, and how the original 'seeds' of our language are contained in the 'a -e-i-o-u' sounds and the consonants of our language.
The shoots of the seeds, if nurtured and given the right environment to grow, will go on to become the basis for the next year of learning, and the next and so on. Thus 'te kōpura o te mātauranga' was chosen as a name for this learning approach.
